Illinois CE REQUIREMENTS

How many CE hours do I need?
 

24 hours every 2 years, 3 hours of which must be in Classroom Ethics.

Are there any state specific CE course subject requirements?
 

  • Agents can take courses from any license type to complete their CE.
  • Ethics Classroom Requirement: All agents are required to complete 3 hours of Classroom Ethics each renewal.
  • Long Term Care Requirement: Before soliciting or selling LTCI products in Illinois, resident producers must complete an 8-hour LTC training course and 4-hours each subsequent renewal period.
  • Flood Requirement: All agents who sell federal flood insurance policies must complete a one-time 3-hour flood insurance course.
  • Annuity Requirement: All producers currently licensed to sell, solicit, and negotiate annuity products must complete a one-time annuity training course approved for at least 4 hours by July 1, 2012. All producers licensed on or after July 1, 2012 must complete this training prior to selling, soliciting, or negotiating such products.

When do I have to complete my CE?
 

  • The license term is every 2 years on the last day of the birth month.
  • CE must be completed at least 30 days prior to license expiration to avoid the $180 Penalty/Reinstatement Fee.

What are the state filing fees?
 

There is a filing fee of $0.50 per CE credit hour.

What are the allowed methods of completing CE?
 

The Ethics must be completed in a classroom setting. The remaining hours can be completed through Self-Study, Online, or Classroom.

What are the study requirements for my courses?
 

Agents must read the course material prior to taking the final exam.

Do the exams require monitoring?
 

No, Noble's self-study exams do not require monitoring. Students may refer to the course material as often as needed.

Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?
 

A maximum of 12 credit hours may be carried over to the next reporting period.

Can I repeat a course I've already taken?
 

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each renewal.

Are all agents required to complete CE?
 

The following exemptions are available:

  • Individuals holding a temporary license.
  • Individuals holding any of the following limited licenses: Baggage, Limited Travel Health or Trip Cancellation sold in connection with transportation by a common carrier, Industrial Life, Industrial Health, and insurance issued by a local mutual district, county or township insurance company.

When will my course completions be reported?
 

Completions reported daily Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
