Indiana CE REQUIREMENTS

How many CE hours do I need?
 

24 hours every 2 years.

Are there any state specific CE course subject requirements?
 

  • There are no restrictions, however; it would be preferred to take courses for the agent's license type.
  • Long Term Care Requirement: Individuals who sell long-term care products must complete an initial 8 hours of state approved LTC (prior to selling LTC), then a 5 hour follow-up every 2 years thereafter.
  • Long Term Care Partnership Requirement: Producers who will sell LTC policies under the Indiana Long-Term Care Partnership (ILTCP) program must satisfy a one-time 7-hour training requirement in addition to the initial 8-hour LTC training requirement, for a total of 15 hours. The 7-hour ILTCP must be completed in a classroom.
  • Annuity Requirement: Before selling, soliciting, or negotiating annuity products in Indiana, producers must complete a one-time annuity training course approved for at least 4 hours.
  • Flood Requirement: All agents who sell federal flood insurance policies must complete a one-time 3-hour flood insurance course.

When do I have to complete my CE?
 

  • Producers: The compliance date is the last day of the license issuance month every 2 years.
  • Adjusters: The compliance date is the last day of the adjuster's birth month every 2 years.

What are the state filing fees?
 

There is a filing fee of $4.00 per CE course.

What are the allowed methods of completing CE?
 

Self-Study, Online, Classroom

What are the study requirements for my courses?
 

Agents must read the course material prior to taking the final exam.

Do the exams require monitoring?
 

Yes, self-study exams must be monitored. Your Qualified Proctor must be: An Indiana licensed agent.

Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?
 

Carryover hours are not allowed in Indiana.

Can I repeat a course I've already taken?
 

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each renewal.

Are all agents required to complete CE?
 

The following exemptions are available:

  • Individuals who no longer actively solicit insurance but who maintain a license in order to collect commissions on business written while still active agents.
  • Individuals completing the one-time 15-hour long-term care training requirement shall be exempt from the LTC CE requirement of eight hours for the reporting period immediately following completion of the course.

When will my course completions be reported?
 

Completions reported daily Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
