Mississippi CE REQUIREMENTS

How many CE hours do I need?
 

24 hours every 2 years, 3 hours of which must be in Ethics.

Producers whose licenses have been in effect for a license term of 18 months or less are required to complete 12 CE hours without Ethics during the license term. Upon renewal, a 2-year license will be issued.

Are there any state specific CE course subject requirements?
 

  • Courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held.
  • L/A&H and P&C combined licensees must complete a minimum of 12 hours in their primary line of insurance. Licensees are encouraged to complete 12 hours in their secondary line. Primary line of insurance must be determined by licensee and reported on renewal application.
  • Ethics Requirement: All agents are required to complete 3 hours of Ethics every 2 years.
  • Flood Requirement: All agents who sell federal flood insurance policies must complete a one-time 3-hour flood insurance course.

When do I have to complete my CE?
 

Producers: The compliance date is the last day of the agent's birth month every 2 years.
Adjusters: The compliance date is May 31st every year.

What are the state filing fees?
 

There is a filing fee of $4.00 per CE course.

What are the allowed methods of completing CE?
 

Self-Study, Online, Classroom

What are the study requirements for my courses?
 

Agents must read the course material prior to taking the final exam.

Do the exams require monitoring?
 

Yes, self-study exams must be monitored. Your Qualified Proctor must be:
A disinterested third party, someone who is not a relative or business associate.

Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?
 

Carryover of excess hours is not allowed in Mississippi.

Can I repeat a course I've already taken?
 

Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each renewal.

Are all agents required to complete CE?
 

The following exemptions are available:

  • Inactive producers
  • Producers holding limited lines licenses
  • Nonresident producers
  • Nonresident adjusters

When will my course completions be reported?
 

Completions reported daily Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
