New Mexico CE REQUIREMENTS

How many CE hours do I need?
 

15 hours each year, 1 hour of which must be in Ethics.

Your state requires all certificate(s) be mailed.

Are there any state specific CE course subject requirements?
 

  • Courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held.
  • Ethics Requirement: All agents are required to complete 1 hour of Ethics each year.
  • Flood Requirement: All agents who sell federal flood insurance policies must complete a one-time 3-hour flood insurance course.

When do I have to complete my CE?
 

The compliance date is 9/30 annually.

What are the state filing fees?
 

There is no state filing fee in New Mexico.

What are the allowed methods of completing CE?
 

Self-Study, Online, Classroom

What are the study requirements for my courses?
 

Agents should read the course material prior to taking the final exam.

Do the exams require monitoring?
 

No, Noble's self-study exams do not require monitoring. Students may refer to the course material as often as needed.

Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?
 

Carryover of excess hours is not allowed in New Mexico.

Can I repeat a course I've already taken?
 

Courses (including courses approved to meet the Ethics requirement) may not be taken for credit more than once in a 3 year period.

Are all agents required to complete CE?
 

The following exemptions are available:

  • The producer holds a limited license.
  • The producer has been an agent, solicitor, nonresident agent, or nonresident broker for 25 years or more.
  • The producer maintains a license solely for the purposes of receiving renewal fee residuals and does not otherwise transact the business of insurance.
  • The producer is an agent of a fraternal benefit society.
  • The nonresident producer has met the CE requirements of his or her home state.

When will my course completions be reported?
 

Agents report themselves to the Department of Insurance.
