What are my CE requirements?
  • Agents: 24 hours, 3 hours of which must be in Ethics.
  • Service Representatives: 12 hours, 1.5 of which must be in Ethics.

    Step 1: If you are an agent, you must take 3 hours of Ethics (1.5 hours if you are a Service Representative) located in the State Specific Courses section.
    Step 2: You may be required to complete additional State Specific Courses.
    Step 3: The remaining hours can be selected from the Elective Courses section.

    Are there any state specific CE course subject requirements?
    • Producers and Service Representatives may take any course approved for CE credit in Alabama. Adjusters and Title agents may take any course approved for P&C credit in Alabama.
    • Ethics Requirement: 3 hours of Ethics per renewal if you are an agent. 1.5 hours of Ethics per renewal if you are a Service Representative
    • Annuity Requirement: One-time 4-hour Annuity course if you sell Annuity.
    • Flood Requirement: One-time 3-hour flood insurance course if you are a P&C agent
    • Long Term Care Requirement: Initial 8 hour LTC, then 4 hour refresher per renewal if you sell LTC
           
    When do I have to complete my CE?
    The compliance date is the last day of the agent's birth month every 2 years.
    Agents born in even years renew in even years.
    Agents born in odd years renew in odd years.
           
    What are the state filing fees?
    The state has imposed a mandatory filing fee of $1.00 per CE credit hour.
           
    What are the study requirements for my courses?
    Agents must read the course material prior to taking the final exam.
           
    Do the exams require monitoring?
    Yes, self-study exams must be monitored. Your Qualified Proctor must be:
    A disinterested third party, someone who is not a relative or business associate.

    If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
           
    Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?
    A maximum of 24 hours may be carried over to the next renewal. Up to 3 hours of Ethics may be carried over as Ethics.
           
    Can I repeat a course I've already taken?
    Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each renewal.
           
    When will my course completions be reported?
    Completions reported daily Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
           
    How long do I have to complete my courses?
    Access to your courses will expire 12 months from the date of purchase.
