Oklahoma Insurance Continuing Education Requirements

A Complete Guide for 2025

Licensed insurance professionals in Oklahoma are required to complete continuing education to maintain an active license. This includes producers, adjusters, title producers, and customer service representatives. NobleCE makes it easy to complete your CE fast with mobile-friendly courses, bundle pricing options, and instant reporting to the state.

What Is Insurance Continuing Education?

Insurance continuing education, or CE, refers to state-approved courses that help licensees stay current with industry standards, ethics, and Oklahoma-specific insurance regulations. CE is required every two years and must be completed before the license renewal deadline.

Who Needs to Complete CE in Oklahoma?

Resident producers, adjusters, title producers, and customer service representatives must all complete CE based on their license type. Non-resident producers are generally exempt if they meet their home state's CE requirements. Consultants are not subject to CE in Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Insurance CE Requirements Overview

Resident producers and adjusters must complete 24 total CE hours every two years. This includes 3 hours of ethics, 2 hours of Oklahoma legislative updates, and 19 hours of general CE. Title producers must complete 16 total hours, which include 2 hours of ethics, 2 hours of legislative updates, and 12 general hours. Customer service representatives must complete 13 hours, including 3 ethics, 2 legislative, and 8 general hours. Courses may not be repeated within the same renewal cycle. Up to 6 excess CE hours may carry forward as general credit.

Special Requirements for Certain Licensees

To sell long-term care insurance, licensees must complete an 8-hour initial partnership training course and then complete a 4-hour refresher every two years. To sell annuities, a one-time 4-hour annuity best interest course is required. Property and casualty licensees may also need a 1-hour earthquake insurance course. Flood insurance sellers must complete a one-time 3-hour course on the National Flood Insurance Program. These special courses count toward the total CE requirement if completed during the renewal period.

When Is the CE Deadline in Oklahoma?

The CE deadline is the last day of the licensee's birth month, every two years. Licensees can renew their license as early as 90 days before the expiration date. CE providers report completions within 10 business days, so it is important to complete your CE early.

How to Find Approved CE Courses in Oklahoma

Courses must be approved by the Oklahoma Insurance Department to count toward CE. NobleCE offers Oklahoma-approved courses that fulfill all required hours, including ethics, legislative updates, and product-specific training. Our courses are mobile-friendly, and completions are reported instantly to the state.

Step-by-Step: How to Complete Your Oklahoma Insurance CE

  1. Find out your license renewal deadline based on your birth month
  2. Choose a NobleCE course bundle that meets Oklahoma requirements
  3. Complete your courses online using any device
  4. Take the required closed-book exams and pass with a score of 70 percent or higher
  5. You can retake exams as many times as needed
  6. Download your certificate of completion
  7. NobleCE will report your CE to the Oklahoma Insurance Department within 10 business days

What Happens If You Miss the CE Deadline?

If you do not complete your CE on time, your license will lapse and you may not conduct insurance business. To reinstate your license, you must complete the CE requirements and pay any applicable fees. Late renewals may be subject to additional penalties.

CE Exemptions and Extensions

Non-resident producers are exempt if they meet CE requirements in their home state. Licensees who have been continuously licensed for at least 20 years and are over age 65 may request an exemption. Hardship and military service extensions may be granted by request before the CE deadline.

How to Check Your CE Transcript

You can view your CE transcript through the Oklahoma Insurance Department's licensing portal or Sircon. Be sure to confirm that all your credits are posted accurately, including specialty training courses. Keep your certificates on file in case of audit.
