What are my Insurance Continuing Education requirements?
You must take a total of 24 hours to renew your license.

Step 1: You must complete 3 hours of Ethics located in the State Specific Courses section.
Step 2: You may be required to complete additional State Specific Courses.
Step 3: The remaining hours can be selected from the Elective Courses section.

Are there any state specific CE course subject requirements?
  • At least 18 of the 24 hours must cover the lines of insurance for which the agent is licensed.
  • Ethics Requirement: 3 hours Ethics each renewal
  • Long Term Care Requirement: Initial 16-hour LTC if you sell LTC (8 hours can be taken online or in a classroom, second 8 hours must be LTC partnership taken in a classroom.) Thereafter, agents must complete 5-hour LTC follow-up in a classroom every 2 years.
  • Homeowners Insurance Coverage Requirement: 3 hours Homeowners' insurance coverage each license term if you sell property of personal lines insurance.
  • Flood Requirement: One-time 3-hour flood insurance course if you sell flood insurance.
  • Annuity Requirement: One-time 4-hour Annuity Training course if you sell annuities.
  • Claims-Made Requirement: One-time 2-hour state approved course on claims-made policies if you engage in the sale, consultation, or adjustment of claims-made policies.
       
When do I have to complete my CE?
The compliance date is the last day of the agent's birth month every 2 years.
Agents born in even years renew in even years.
Agents born in odd years renew in odd years.
       
What is a Sircon Fee?
There is no state filing fee in Colorado.
       
What are the allowed methods of completing CE?
Self-Study, Online, Classroom
       
What are the study requirements for my courses?
Agents should read the course material prior to taking the final exam.
       
Do the exams require monitoring?
Yes, self-study exams must be monitored. Your Qualified Proctor must be:
A disinterested third party, someone who is not a relative or business associate.

If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
       
Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?
Up to 12 hours may be carried over to the next renewal as long as they were earned in the 120 days prior to the renewal date. Ethics hours carried forward will be counted as General.
       
Can I repeat a course I've already taken?
You cannot repeat the same course within 2 years from the last completion date.
       
Are all agents required to complete CE?
The following exemptions are available:
  • First time licensees have until their second continuation cycle to comply; and,
  • Producers licensed to only write one or more of the following authorities are exempt:
    • Travel Ticket Selling
    • Bail Bonding
    • Title
    • Limited Lines Credit
    • Crop Hail
       
When will my course completions be reported?
Completions for online courses are reported immediately 24/7.
Completions for shipped courses are reported daily. (Monday through Friday)
You will receive an email immediately after your course has been reported.
       
How long do I have to complete my courses?
Access to your courses will expire 12 months from the date of purchase.
