What are my CE requirements?
  • Life & Health or Property & Casualty: 12 hours every 2 years, 1 of the 12 hours must be in Ethics.
  • Life & Health and Property & Casualty combined: 24 hours every 2 years, 2 of the 24 hours must be in Ethics.
  • Public Adjusters: 12 hours every 2 years, 1 of the 12 hours must be in Ethics.
  • Crop Insurance or Life Agents who sell only pre-need funeral insurance: 2 hours every 2 years.

    Step 1: You must complete required Ethics courses located in the State Specific Courses section.
    Step 2: You may be required to complete additional State Specific Courses.
    Step 3: The remaining hours can be selected from the Elective Courses section.

    Are there any state specific CE course subject requirements?
    • Courses must be approved for lines of insurance for which license is held.
    • Combined licensees must complete 50 percent of hours in Life & Health courses and 50 percent of hours in Property & Casualty.
    • Ethics Requirement: 1 hour Ethics every 2 years, 2 hours for combined licenses.
    • Long Term Care Requirement: Initial 4-hour LTC, then a 1-hour refresher each renewal if you sell LTC.
    • Annuity Requirement: One-time 4-hour annuity course before you sell, solicit, or negotiate annuities.
    • Flood Requirement: One-time 3-hour flood insurance course if you sell flood insurance.
    When do I have to complete my CE?
    The compliance date is the last of the agent's birth month every 2 years (even/odd)
    Agents born in odd-numbered years renew in odd-numbered years.
    Agents born in even-numbered years renew in even-numbered years.
    What are the state filing fees?
    The state has imposed a mandatory filing fee of $1.00 per CE credit hour.
    What are the allowed methods of completing CE?
    Self-Study, Online, Classroom
    What are the study requirements for my courses?
    Agents must read the course material prior to taking the final exam.
    Do the exams require monitoring?
    Yes, self-study exams must be monitored. Your Qualified Proctor must be:
    A disinterested third party, someone who is not a relative or business associate.

    If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
    Can excess hours be carried over to the next renewal?
    Carryover of excess hours is not allowed in Kansas.
    Can I repeat a course I've already taken?
    Courses may not be taken for credit more than once in each renewal.
    Are all agents required to complete CE?
    Nonresidents are exempt from continuing education.
    When will my course completions be reported?
    Completions reported daily Monday through Friday excluding holidays.
    How long do I have to complete my courses?
    Access to your courses will expire 12 months from the date of purchase.
