Nevada CE requirements

How many CE hours do Nevada insurance agents need?

Nevada resident producers must complete 30 approved CE hours during the license term before expiration. Three hours must be approved ethics credit.

3 ethics required category
Every 3 years

Which Nevada CE requirement applies to me?

Resident producer with life or health authority? 30 approved hours per three-year term, including 3 ethics hours.
Resident producer with property, casualty, or personal-lines authority? 30 approved hours per three-year term, including 3 ethics hours.
More than one producer authority? Complete one 30-hour requirement, but use courses eligible for the authorities and categories assigned to the license.

Nevada CE requirements by license

Nevada license type Total CE Required category or format
Resident insurance producer 30 hours / 3 years 3 ethics; approved credit for held authority
Resident insurance consultant 30 hours / 3 years 3 ethics; approved eligible subjects

Adjuster, public-adjuster, and specialized license requirements are not interchangeable with the producer requirement. Check the class shown on the Nevada record before buying a package.

Who is exempt from Nevada producer CE?

Qualifying reciprocal nonresidents generally satisfy CE through their home state. Certain limited authorities do not carry the standard 30-hour requirement. Confirm the exemption on the Nevada record; annuity, LTC, or flood training can still apply to the applicable business.

Deadline and renewal cycle

When is Nevada insurance CE due?

Use the exact date on your official license record.

Complete Nevada producer CE before the license expiration date shown on the official record. The producer license term is three years.

The renewal window begins 90 days before expiration.

Nevada provides a 30-day late-renewal period, but late renewal does not extend authority to transact insurance after expiration.

From day 31 through one year after expiration, eligible producers use the reinstatement process; a CE-failure status may require direct state handling.

Official record

How do I check my Nevada CE transcript or status?

Use Nevada’s Sircon services to review the license term and CE transcript. Confirm total hours, ethics credit, authority categories, and accepted completions.

  1. 1
    Correct license and period

Confirm the active license record, CE period, and compliance or review date.

  2. 2
    Total posted credit

Compare the posted hours with your requirement after any valid exemption, reduction, or carryover.

  3. 3
    Required categories

Check ethics, law update, flood, delivery method, or product-specific categories separately.

  4. 4
    Completion history

Look for missing courses, duplicate or zero credit, incorrect dates, and misclassified completions.

What should I do if completed credit is missing?

Reporting timing. The approved provider reports successful completion. Allow time for state and renewal-system updates before the expiration date.

1. Match the course number, completion date, license number or NPN, and credit category to the completion certificate.

2. Ask the provider to confirm the roster submission and correct a missing or rejected completion.

3. Recheck the official transcript. Contact the licensing authority if an accepted completion remains missing or incorrect.

Credits and eligibility

What courses count toward Nevada insurance CE?

Nevada CE credit is awarded only for a state-approved course completed through a state-approved provider. The course must match the required credit category and applicable license period.

Can I repeat a Nevada course for additional credit?
No. Nevada does not award additional credit for repeating the same approved course during one renewal period.
Can extra Nevada CE hours carry over?
No. Excess CE hours do not carry into the next three-year Nevada license term.
Must Nevada CE match my authority?
Yes. Use courses approved for the held line of authority and the required ethics category.
Does purchasing 30 hours establish compliance?
No. The courses must be successfully completed, reported, and accepted for the current license term.
Can renewal be filed before CE updates?
NIPR may accept an application, but Nevada will not approve renewal until required CE compliance is established.

Course format

Can Nevada insurance CE be completed online?

Nevada accepts approved online and self-study CE. Complete the course and its approved final assessment; current Nevada guidance does not require an outside exam proctor for ordinary online self-study.

Online self-study

Complete the approved course and required assessment using the provider’s identity and completion controls.

Live instruction

Meet the approved attendance and participation requirements for the awarded hours.

Authority approval

Confirm course eligibility for life/health, property/casualty, ethics, or the applicable specialty before enrollment.

A no-proctor course can still require a final assessment and other completion controls. The approved course method governs credit.

Product-specific training

What specialty training do Nevada insurance agents need?

Product-specific training applies only to the relevant business. Complete initial training before selling the product and track recurring training separately.

Training Who needs it? Hours and frequency
Annuity best interest Producers selling annuities 4 initial hours Complete approved training before selling; insurer product training is separate.
Long-term care Producers selling LTC insurance 8 initial hours; 4 hours every 24 months Track recurring training separately from the three-year license term.
NFIP flood Producers selling federal flood insurance 3 initial hours Complete training meeting the federal NFIP standard.

A product-training course counts toward ordinary CE only when it also carries the applicable state CE approval. Retain the completion certificate for insurer verification.
