Oklahoma CE requirements
How many CE hours do Oklahoma insurance agents need?
Oklahoma applies separate category totals to resident producers, title producers, and adjusters. The transcript must show CE COMPLIANT before the online renewal can be processed.
Which Oklahoma CE requirement applies to me?
Oklahoma CE requirements by license
| Oklahoma license type | Total CE | Required category or format |
|---|---|---|
| Resident producer | 24 hours / 2 years | 3 ethics + 2 legislative update + 19 producer general |
| Resident title producer | 16 hours / 2 years | 2 ethics + 2 legislative update + 12 producer general |
| Resident adjuster or Oklahoma DHS adjuster | 24 hours / 2 years | 3 ethics + 2 legislative update + 19 adjuster general |
Producer-general courses also qualify for title-producer general credit. Adjusters must use adjuster-approved categories for the adjuster requirement.
Who is exempt from Oklahoma’s ordinary CE requirement?
The state’s current CE page applies the listed totals to resident agent producers, title producers, and adjusters. Nonresident producers generally receive home-state reciprocity. Confirm any limited-license exemption on the official record.

Deadline and renewal cycle
When is Oklahoma insurance CE due?
Complete and report Oklahoma CE before renewal. The transcript must show CE COMPLIANT at least three business days before the online renewal can be processed.
The online renewal window opens approximately 90 days before expiration.
Providers have 10 business days to report course completions. Oklahoma recommends completing CE at least 30 days before expiration.
An expired license cannot use ordinary renewal. Follow the state’s license-reactivation process.

How do I check my Oklahoma CE transcript or status?
Use the Oklahoma SBS education transcript to verify the biennial period, exact category totals, carryover, repeated-course flags, and CE COMPLIANT status.
-
1
Correct license and period
Confirm the active license record, CE period, and compliance or review date.
-
2
Total posted credit
Compare the posted hours with your requirement after any valid exemption, reduction, or carryover.
-
3
Required categories
Check ethics, law update, flood, delivery method, or product-specific categories separately.
-
4
Completion history
Look for missing courses, duplicate or zero credit, incorrect dates, and misclassified completions.
What should I do if completed credit is missing?
Reporting timing. Oklahoma providers must report course completions electronically within 10 business days. The Department does not accept the completion certificate as the official credit report.
1. Match the course number, completion date, license number or NPN, and credit category to the completion certificate.
2. Ask the provider to confirm the roster submission and correct a missing or rejected completion.
3. Recheck the official transcript. Contact the licensing authority if an accepted completion remains missing or incorrect.

Credits and eligibility
What courses count toward Oklahoma insurance CE?
Oklahoma CE credit is awarded only for a state-approved course completed through a state-approved provider. The course must match the required credit category and applicable license period.
- Can I repeat an Oklahoma CE course for credit?
- No. A licensee may not repeat the same course within a 24-month period. Compare course numbers before enrolling.
- How many Oklahoma CE hours carry over?
- Up to 6 excess hours carry into the next 24-month period as general credit. Required ethics and legislative-update categories must still be completed for the new period.
- Can a general course replace legislative update?
- No. The transcript must show the separate legislative-update category required for the license type.
- Can a producer course satisfy adjuster CE?
- Only when the course is approved in the applicable adjuster category. Producer-general approval alone does not establish adjuster-general credit.
- Is a completion certificate enough for renewal?
- No. Oklahoma uses the electronic SBS transcript. The record must show CE COMPLIANT before the renewal application can be processed.

Product-specific training
What specialty training do Oklahoma insurance agents need?
Product-specific training applies only to the relevant business. Complete initial training before selling the product and track recurring training separately.
| Training | Who needs it? | Hours and frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Annuity best interest | Producers selling annuities | 4 initial hours Complete the current approved best-interest course before annuity business. |
| Long-term care Partnership | Producers selling long-term care insurance | 8 initial hours; 4 hours each renewal cycle The training may count within producer-general credit when properly approved. |
| NFIP flood | Producers selling federal flood insurance | 3 initial hours Complete training that satisfies the federal NFIP minimum. |
A product-training course counts toward ordinary CE only when it also carries the applicable state CE approval. Retain the completion certificate for insurer verification.
